SMAR TP300 Series

Intelligent Transmitter for Position Measurements

The TP300 belongs to the well-known SMAR equipment family, available in HART 4 to 20 mA, FOUNDATION Fieldbus and PROFIBUS PA technologies. The line also features the TP290 version, also with digital technology, which features an output signal from 4 to 20 mA.

The TP300 is a smart transmitter for position measurements. With it, displacement or movement of the linear or rotary type can be measured. The digital technology and communication used by it provide a user-friendly interface between the field and the control room and several interesting features, which considerably reduce installation, operation and maintenance costs.

The TP300 uses a non-contact magnetic coupler to measure position. Therefore, it is immune to effects due to vibrations, thus resulting in greater operational durability. The magnetic coupler, as a replacement for the mechanical connection, results in a significant reduction in dead band and inaccuracies due to wear and tear. The TP300 can be mounted on any linear or rotary motion equipment or a variety of other equipment such as skylight, damper, roller height, crusher, etc.

The TP300 offers, in addition to the normal functions available in other position transmitters, the following functions:

  • Accuracy 0.2% of Full Scale;
  • Linear movement from 3 mm to 100 mm; (for larger courses, see our BFY-CL Series catalog);
  • Rotating movement from 0° to 30° to 0° to 120°;
  • Locally or remotely configurable via HART® 4 to 20 mA protocol, FOUNDATION™
  • Fieldbus and PROFIBUS PA;
  • Rotating location indicator, user-friendly multifunctional;
  • Easy installation, quick commissioning and adjustment;
  • Password configuration protection;
  • Reverse polarity protection;
  • Non-contact “Hall Effect” position sensor that measures the instrument’s stroke and feeds it back to the CPU;
  • Remote mounting of the sensor using an extension cable suitable for applications with difficult access or involving high vibration and high temperature;
  • Certified for use in hazardous areas complying with EC (European Community) directives;
  • Electromagnetic compatibility according to IEC 61326:2002, IEC 801, EN50081 and EN 50082.

Types of Transmitters

Linear

Configuration (local or remote) via software for strokes from 3 mm to 100 mm, with selection of linear magnet stroke options and mounting brackets. To increase the linear stroke measurement from 100mm to 1000mm, use the BFY-CL.

Rotary

Configuration (local or remote) via software, rotation from 30° to 120°, used with suitable rotating magnet and mounting bracket.

Non-contact local Position Sensor

Standard position transmitter with integrated position sensor.

Remote, non-contact Position Sensor

More indicated in applications involving high temperature and vibration. It is also suitable for hard-to-reach places. Available in cable lengths from 5m to 20m.

Exit

Reverse Output or Direct Action..

Parameterization

The TP300 series is available in HART®, FOUNDATION™ fieldbus and PROFIBUS PA technologies. These instruments can be configured through SMAR software and configuration tools or from other manufacturers. Local adjustment is available for the TP300 series. It is possible to configure the control parameters and various functions using the magnetic tool.

Additionally, SMAR developed the AssetView application, a web-type tool with a friendly interface that can be accessed from anywhere and at any time, using an Internet browser.

  • TP301
  • TP302
  • TP303

The TP301 developed with HART protocol can be configured by:

  • HI331 BLUETOOTH for android devices (App DEVCODROID) and Windows PC;
  • Third-party configuration tools based on DD (Device Description) or DTM (Device Type Manager).

The TP302 uses the H1 communication protocol, an open technology that allows any H1-enabled configuration tool to configure this equipment. Syscon (System Configurator Tool) is software used to configure, operate and maintain field equipment. Syscon provides efficient and user-friendly interaction using Windows NT version 4.0 or later, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

Configuration tools such as AMSTM, FieldCare™, HHT375 and HHT475 can configure TP302 devices. DD (Device Description) and CF (Capability File) files can be downloaded from the SMAR website or the Fieldbus Foundation TM.

The TP302 supports complex configuration strategies due to the high capacity and variety of instantiable function blocks. Eleven types of function blocks are available. Fieldbus technology enables AssetView to access status and diagnostic information. In this way, maintenance procedures become more effective, providing greater safety and plant availability.

These instruments can be configured via SMAR’s ProfibusView or Siemens’ Simatic PDM. The TP303 is designed to use the PROFIBUS PA protocol and can be configured using Simatic PDM and the FDT (Field Device Tool) and DTM (Device Type Manager) tool concepts, such as FieldCareTM and PACTwareTM. It can also be configured by any PROFIBUS system using the GSD file.

PROFIBUS PA also provides quality and diagnostic information, improving plant management and maintenance. The EDDL (Electronic Device Description Language) and DTM files are available on the SMAR website.
